Through the Foxit Configuration Tool, administrators can easily edit the extended policy of official templates. Click Template Extended Policy tool and choose one template to edit. See also Extended Policy.

Foxit PDF Editor AIP Protect feature provides a handy configuration tool for administrators to better modify the protection settings on an AIP server. Administrators can directly enable/disable each tool, edit the extended policy of official templates, dynamically revoke permissions, audit logs, set valid network printers, and customize wrapper files.

To start to use the configuration tool to encrypt PDFs, please do the following:

1. Creating Profile

Before adding a watermark, you should create a profile first. The application will apply all of the watermarks in the profile to a PDF.

Note: you can only choose a profile but not a certain watermark to use. Please create the watermarks you want to add to one PDF in the same profile.

You can apply AIP encryption to multiple PDF files at the same time with the Batch Encrypt command.

1. Choose Protect > Settings > Custom Templates.

2. Click Create to open the Create Custom Rights Policy Template dialog box.

3. (Optional) If you want to edit the existed template, please click Edit.

Foxit PDF Editor AIP Protect feature provides seamless integration with Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services to protect PDF documents from unauthorized use and manage rights policy templates. Document authors can restrict users to open, read, modify or redistribute certain information. If you are authorized you can use Foxit PDF Editor to open an AIP-Protected document to improve information security and meet compliance requirements. 

Once installed, Foxit PDF Editor will extend all Microsoft AIP service to all PDF files.

If you often apply the same security settings to multiple PDFs, you can save your settings as a policy that you can apply to other PDFs. Security policies include the security method, encryption password, permission settings, etc.

To change or remove security settings, you must have permission to do so. If you want to change or remove security encrypted with certificate, you must have all access to the document, or you can’t do changes or remove security settings.

To change certificate protection, please do the following:

  1. Choose Protect > Secure Document > Certificate Protect.
  2. In Certificate Protection dialog box, create intended recipient list for the encrypt document:

    New PKCS#12 digital ID file – Stores the digital ID information to a file with the extension .pfx on Windows and .p12 on Mac OS. You can use the files interchangeably across different operating systems.
