Save a PDF file on OpenText Documentum

By Cynthia, 6 December, 2025

To save a locked PDF document, you can choose to replace the original document in the OpenText Documentum, or save it as a new version, a new sub-version, or a new document.

  1. After modification, go to File > Save As, click the Documentum item listed under the Save As menu and then click Save As. Or click Documentum > Save As > Save As
  2. In the Save As dialog box:
  • Choose New Version/ New Sub-version/ New Document: the modified document will be saved as a new version/sub-version/document, leaving the original document unchanged.
  • Choose Replace Original: the modified document will overwrite the original document in Documentum.

You can save a local PDF document as a new document or a new version to the Documentum. Save the changes you made in the document and then do the following:

  • To save as a new document, go to File > Save As, click the Documentum item listed under the Save As menu and then click Save As. Or click Documentum > Save As > Save As. Then type the document name as needed and click Save.
  • To save as a new version or sub-version, click Documentum > Save As > Save As Repository Version. In the Save As dialog box, select New Version or New Sub-version, and click OK. Select a document in Documentum to save the local PDF document as a new version or sub-version of the document.
