When you select a measurement tool or a measurement markup, the Format tab appears in the right panel by default. It contains the Style and Measure sub-tabs, which allow you to customize markup appearance and measuring settings including the page scale, measurement properties, snapping, and export options.
The Style sub-tab:
Style options vary by measurement type and may include:
- Preview: Shows a preview of the markup appearance.
- Shape Style: Sets the line color. Select one of the preset colors or click the Custom Color button
to modify the preset style or customize a new style. - Opacity: Drag the Opacity slider to adjust line and endpoint opacity from 0 (invisible) to 100 (opaque).
- Fill Color: Sets the fill color of endpoints. Click the Fill Color button
, then choose a desired color from the color palette. - Dash Type: Selects the line pattern. Click the Dash Type button
, and then select a dash type as needed. - Line Width: Sets line thickness in points. In the Line Width field
, input a value, or select the desired value from the drop-down list. - Start of line / End of line: Sets the endpoint shapes.
- Arrange: Click the corresponding icons to center, align, or distribute selected measurement markup(s).
The Measure sub-tab:
Page Scale: Set or calibrate scales. See also Set page scales and calibrate scales.
[Measurement] Properties: The properties vary by measurement type and may include:
- Label: Add custom text or prefixes/suffixes to measurement markups. You can also add a label through options specified in measuring preferences.
- Depth: Defines depth for volume and wall area calculations. Mutually exclusive with Rise/Drop.
- Slope: Sets slope ratio for the measurement. To set a slope, select a unit (Pitch, Degree, or Grade) and enter the value in the corresponding field.
- Length: Sets the unit for the length dimension.
- Area: Sets the unit for the area dimension.
- Width: Shows the scaled width of the measured object along the horizontal axis; the value is calculated from the page’s scale and is read-only.
- Height: Shows the scaled height of the measured object along the vertical axis; the value is calculated from the page’s scale and is read-only.
- Rise/Drop: Allows for measurements of materials running between floors, such as piping or conduit. The value entered here represents the total amount of rise and/or drop. The unit is automatically the same one used for the markup length. Exclusive to Polylength measurements. Mutually exclusive with Depth.
- Volume: Sets volume units.
- Show Segment Values: Enable it to display values for individual segments.
- Show Caption: Specify which measurement captions appear on the measurement markup.
Snap: Choose one or more snapping types to help place measurement points accurately.
- Snap to Endpoints
: a small red circle will appear at the endpoint of the path when moving the cursor toward the end of the path. - Snap to Midpoints
: a small red triangle will appear at the midpoint of a path when moving the cursor over the path. - Snap to Paths
: the cursor will automatically change to a red square box on a path when moving the cursor over the path. - Snap to Intersections
: a small red cross will appear at the intersection of two paths when moving the cursor over the point of two intersecting paths.
Settings:
- Show Result Information: Select it to display the current measuring result in the bottom right of the document pane.
- Measurement Markup: Select it to show measurement lines you draw in the PDF. When you put the pointer over the measurement markups with the Hand command selected, you can also view the measurement result and label.
- Rulers: Select it to show rulers while measuring.
Export: Click Export to Excel 
to save all the measurement information in your PDF to a CSV file.
