Alfresco is a popular ECM (Enterprise Content Management) platform, providing robust document management capabilities. Foxit PDF Editor users can seamlessly connect to their Alfresco accounts to open, edit and save PDF documents.

Open and save documents in Alfresco

  • Run Foxit PDF Editor and choose File > Open > Add a place > Alfresco. In the Alfresco Login dialog box, sign in to your Alfresco account.
  • In the Open dialog box, select a document from a repository.
  • Click Open or Check Out and Open to open the document. If you choose Check out and Open, other users cannot edit the PDF at the same time; if you only choose Open, others are able to modify the PDF at the same time when you are editing.
  • When you open a document, the Alfresco context tab appears on the ribbon. You can click Check Out to check out the open document, or click Discard Checkout to cancel the Check Out status. If you check out the document, after editing it, you can click File > Save to save the changes to your Alfresco account, or click Check In to save the document as a new version back to your Alfresco account.
  • If opening a document without checking out, you are allowed to modify the description of the document in the Document Properties dialog box which pops up when you click Document Properties in the Alfresco context tab.
