Once connected with MCP servers, you can use natural language prompts to trigger real-time actions like “Create a Jira issue” or “Send an email to Alice with the subject ‘Meeting Tomorrow’” directly through the AI Assistant.
Launch Foxit PDF Editor for Windows.
Click AI Assistant on the ribbon and choose AI Chat to open the AI Chat panel.
Enable MCP server access by clicking the hammer icon
in the chat box within the AI Chat panel. If access is currently disabled, this action will activate MCP capabilities.
Click the arrow next to the hammer icon to view the list of added MCP servers, and enable the desired servers by toggling them on from the list.
(Optional) If you need to manage the added MCP servers, click the configuration icon
at the top-right corner of the list to open the MCP Manager dialog box.Enter your prompt in the chat box and click Send. The AI Assistant will analyze your input, identify relevant tools available through the enabled MCP servers, and prepare to execute them.
If any tool is not set for automatic execution, the AI Assistant will prompt you with a Continue button and a Refuse button in the AI Chat panel before proceeding. You can click the Refuse button to cancel the tool execution for the current request, or click the arrow next to the Continue button to choose your preferred execution option:
Apply to this session only: Execute the tool in the current session only.
Always enable for this tool: Allow auto-execution of this tool for current and future sessions.
Enable once: Execute the tool one time. You will be prompted again for any future executions.
If you simply click the Continue button, it defaults to the “Enable once” option.
After the execution is complete, the AI Assistant will return the result. The analysis process and tool interaction details are shown in a collapsed view by default. You can click the collapsed section to expand and review the full details.
