Advanced –Provides an option to auto-detect printers that support PCL for PCL optimization to improve the printing speed.
Print Optimization allows you to optimize print jobs from a PCL driver, for features such as font substitution or scanning for vertical and horizontal rules. Foxit PDF Editor provides an option to auto-detect printers that support PCL for PCL optimization to improve the printing speed. To enable print optimization, please follow the steps below:
- Choose File > Print to open the Print dialog box.
- Click Advanced at the top of the Print dialog box.
- In the Advanced dialog box, do the following:
- Select a printer from Printers list, and click Add to add the selected printer to PCL Drivers list.
- Check one of the optimization options (Use <PCL_level> Driver for <PCL_level> Printers option) based on your printer driver level.
- Click OK.
Then you can execute printings with the optimized driver. And you can also remove the printer from the PCL Drivers list if you are not satisfied with the printing results it delivers. Just select the driver to be removed from the PCL Drivers list, click Remove and then choose OK to confirmation the operation.
Tip:To enable PCL print optimization, please make sure that the Use GDI+ Output for all types of printer option in the Print preferences is unchecked. Otherwise, settings in printer preferences will prevail and GDI++ device will be used for printing for all types of printers.

- Selected PDF files: Prints the selected PDF files in a portfolio. This option is only available when you have selected PDF files in a portfolio in the Layout or Details mode.
- Current view: Prints the page area (including text, comments, images, tables, or a combination of all of them) that is visible in the current view. This option is not available if your current view contains more than one page. If you have selected a portion of a page with the Snapshot tool and print the selected area, the Current View option will be dynamically replaced with the Selected Graphic option.
- Current page: Print the current page only.
- All PDF files: Prints all PDF files in a portfolio. This option is only available when the portfolio contains PDF files and is in the Layout or Details mode.
- All pages: Print all pages in the document.
- Pages: Specifies the page range you want to print. If your PDF contains formatted page numbers, and the Use logical page numbers option is enabled in File > Preferences > Page Display, you should enter the numbers that match the numbering on the pages rather than the physical page numbers. For instance, if you want to print the second page of your document which is numbered ii, you should enter ii to print the page. See also the preference setting on logical page numbers.
Subset – Provides options for setting noncontiguous page range.
All Pages in Range – Prints all the pages within the specified range.
Odd pages only – Prints only pages with odd numbers within the specified range.
Even pages only – Prints only pages with even numbers within the specified range.
Note: This option is especially helpful for two-side printing.
- Reverse pages – Prints pages in reverse order. If a page range is entered, the pages will print in the opposite sequence from how they were specified. For example, if you select to print the document from page 5 to page 30, selecting the Reverse pages option will print from page 30 to page 5.

- Multiple Pages Per Sheet – multiple pages will be printed on the same sheet of paper. You can specify the settings like Pages Per Sheet, Page Order, Margins, etc.
- Booklet – Booklet printing enables to print multiple pages on the same sheet of paper in correct order if the pages are folded. This requires the printer support to print on both sides.

- Auto-Rotate – Adjusts the PDF document’s orientation to match the orientation specified in the printer properties.
- Auto-Center – Places the PDF pages in the center.

If Auto portrait/landscape is selected, the printer will automatically adjust the page orientation based on the page size and the paper size. The Choose paper source by PDF page size option in Page Handling overrides the Auto portrait/landscape option here.
Print What – Specifies to print documents only, annotations only, or both.
Document – Prints the document contents and form fields, not including annotations.

You can also specify the orientation and page size in the Printer Properties dialog box or the Orientation setting in the Print dialog box. Those settings will keep synchronized across different dialog boxes or option groups.
