Export PDFs to accessible text

By Cynthia, 14 November, 2025

If the document is an accessible PDF, you can save it as accessible text which can contain assistive information (such as alternate text descriptions) for images or multimedia objects in the PDF. Accessible text is often used for a braille printer by which accessible text can be imported and printed out as a form that vision-impaired people can use.

To export PDF to accessible text,

  1. Click File > Export, or navigate to the Convert tab.
  2. Choose To Other > (To) Accessible Text. (Tip: You can also export it through File > Save As.)
  3. In the pop-up dialog box, specify the file name and location for the output file. (Tip: You can click Save to ECM to save the output file to ECM systems or cloud services.) Select View Result to open the output file after the conversion process is completed.
  4. Click Save.
