Edit a bookmark

In Foxit PDF Editor, you are able to rename a bookmark, reset a bookmark’s destination, or customize the text appearance of a bookmark with ease if the security settings allow. 

  • To rename a bookmark

Right-click the bookmark you want to rename in the Bookmarks panel > Rename> type the new bookmark name. Or you double click the bookmark you want to rename and then type the new name.

  • To change a bookmark’s destination

    You can change a bookmark’s destination by doing either of the following:

  • In the document pane, move to the location you want to specify as the new destination. Adjust the view magnification as needed. Right-click the bookmark, choose Set Destination, and select Yes in the pop-up dialog box. If you do not want to see the dialog box the next time you reset a bookmark’s destination, select the Don’t show again option in the dialog box.
  • Change a bookmark’s destination via the Properties dialog box:

1) Right-click the bookmark in the Bookmarks panel and choose Properties. Or, select the bookmark, click the Options menu at the top of the Bookmarks panel, and select Properties.

2) Choose the Actions tab in the pop-up Bookmark Properties dialog box. Under Actions, you can see the current trigger and action for the bookmark. Select the action Go to a page view and then click the Edit button.

3) Change the destination by choosing any of the three options in the pop-up dialog box:

  • Set position manually: Choose an option from the Zoom drop-down list to set the view magnification for the new destination, and click OK. Navigate to the desired location in the current document or in another document (such as a file attachment) and click Set this position in the pop-up dialog box. Tip: To set a desired position in another PDF document as the new destination, you need to open the target document in the current application window, scroll to the desired position, and then click Set this position. 
  • Use Page Number: Set the page number and page view of the new destination as needed, and click OK.
  • Use Named Destination: Click Browse to choose a named destination as the new destination, and click OK. See also Destinations.

4) Click Close in the Bookmark Properties dialog box. 

  • To customize the text appearance of a bookmark
  1. In the Bookmarks panel, click on a bookmark to select one bookmark, press Ctrl/Shift + click to select multiple bookmarks, or press Ctrl + A to select all the bookmarks. 
  2. At the top of the Bookmarks panel, click the or button to enlarge or reduce the text size of all the bookmarks. Or just hold down the Ctrl key as you rotate the scroll wheel up or down to change the magnification.
  3. Right-click the selected bookmark and choose Properties.
  4. In the Bookmark Properties dialog box, click the Appearance tab, and select the font style and color for the text.

Note: After defining a bookmark’s appearance, you can set it as bookmarks’ default property by right-clicking the bookmark and then selecting the option of Use Current Appearance as New Default.

  • To add an action to a bookmark
  1. Right-click a bookmark, and choose Properties.
  2. In the Bookmark Properties dialog box, click Actions.
  3. Choose an action from the Select Action menu and click Add, and then refer to the section of “Actions tab for the button properties”.
  • To delete a bookmark, please do one of the following:
  1. Select the bookmark you want to delete and click the Delete button at the top of the Bookmarks panel. (Ctrl-click to select more than one bookmark. To select a continuous group of bookmarks, click one bookmark, then hold the Shift key and click the last bookmark.)
  2. Right-click the bookmark you want to delete and choose Delete.

Notes:

  1. Deleting a bookmark deletes all the bookmarks that are subordinate to it.
  2. You can delete pages by deleting bookmarks. For details, please refer to “Delete pages using bookmarks”.
