You can use Foxit PDF Editor to quickly create a blank PDF portfolio or a new PDF portfolio from any file. After creation, you can also add more files/folders, create folders, delete files/folders and more within the PDF portfolio.
To create a new PDF portfolio from files, please do the following:
- Click Convert > PDF Portfolio > Create a new PDF portfolio, or click File > Create > PDF Portfolio > Portfolio.
- In the pop-up Create Portfolio dialog box, click Add files and choose one of the following options to add files/folders you want to attach to a PDF portfolio.
- From File: You can choose files from local drives or click Open from ECM to select a file from ECM systems or cloud services. (Tip: To add files, you can also directly drag and drop the files into the dialog box.)
- From Folder: Choose a folder that contains the files you want to add.
- From Web Page: Input a URL, or browse and select a file you want to add. Then click OK to convert the web page to a PDF and add it to the dialog box.
- From Scanner: Scan documents to PDFs and add the scanned PDFs to the dialog box. For the details about how to scan documents to PDF, please refer to Create PDFs using Scanner.
- From Clipboard: Create a PDF from the clipboard and add it to the dialog box.
- You can reorder the files you added by name, modified time, or size by clicking the corresponding column name. Alternatively, reorder the files manually as desired using the Move Up/Down button. Select a file and click the Remove button to delete it, if necessary.
- When you are done, click Create.
- After creation, the generated portfolio will be automatically opened in the application, and the Portfolio context tab appears on the ribbon. Then you can change the view mode, add more files, and create folders, as needed. Tip: To quickly add files/folders, you can copy-and-paste or drag-and-drop files/folders to the portfolio.
Tip: To quickly create a PDF portfolio from files on your computer, you can right-click the files and choose Combine files in Foxit PDF Editor…. See also Convert and combine multiple files into a single PDF or a PDF portfolio.
To create a blank PDF portfolio, please click Convert > PDF Portfolio > Create a blank PDF portfolio, or click File > Create > PDF Portfolio > Blank Portfolio. On the ribbon appears the Portfolio context tab that allows you to add files from local drives/ ECM/ web pages/ Scanner/ Clipboard, add folders and currently open files, and create folders.
When creating a new PDF portfolio (not blank), you can create a Table of Contents (TOC) which will be displayed following the cover sheet of portfolio. Before that, you need to select the Create a Table of Contents in Cover Sheet when creating a PDF portfolio option in File > Preferences > Create PDF.
The headings of the TOC generated is made up of the names of folders (including the subfolders) and files in the portfolio, arranged in an order that the files and folders are displayed in the portfolio. For a folder which is nested with multiple levels of subfolders, in the TOC the folder names are displayed up to five levels. Clicking on a file in the TOC page, you can open the file. For a PDF portfolio with TOC, if any file/folder is added or removed, you can click Regenerate TOC in the Portfolio tab to update the TOC; for a PDF portfolio without a TOC, you can click Regenerate TOC to create a TOC.
