Change the camera properties

By Cynthia, 29 November, 2025

On the 3D toolbar (or after right-clicking the 3D model and choosing Tools), select Camera Properties to define the precise angle and positioning for a view of a 3D object. The camera properties can be saved as presets, which can be used across views and files.

  • Camera Preset: Options in this group allow you to save and manage camera presets. When you have configured the camera properties, you can click Save As to save it as a preset. All the camera presets can be found in the Camera Preset drop-down list, and can be applied across files when you define a camera view. If you want to delete a preset, select it from the Camera Preset drop-down list, and click Delete.
  • Angle units: This option allows you to switch the value between Camera X/Camera Y/Camera Z and Azimuth/Altitude/Distance. Camera X, Camera Y, and Camera Z define the position of the camera in the coordinate system. The Azimuth, Altitude, and Distance allow you to manipulate the camera by azimuth (distance) and altitude (X-axis), and to zoom using the distance value. To adjust the position, drag the corresponding slider or change the value in the field beside the option.
  • Target X/ Target Y/Target Z: Define the direction in which the camera looks. To adjust the direction, drag the corresponding slider or change the value in the field beside the option.
  • Field of Views: Change the focal angle of the camera. To adjust the parameter, drag the slider or change the value in the field beside the option.
  • Roll: Change the roll angle of the camera. Drag the slider or change the value in the field beside the option to adjust the parameter.
  • Save Camera View: Save the current camera view. When you click this option, the View Properties dialog box will pop up for you to select the display settings that can be saved with the camera view. The saved view will be named “CameraView [n]” by default, and will be added to the list of views in the 3D toolbar and the View pane of the Model Tree panel.

Tip: The changes to the camera properties are applied immediately to the 3D module. If necessary, adjust the Camera Properties dialog box appropriately to make sure that it does not block your view of the active 3D model.
