You are allowed to edit component files after opening them in their native applications. If the component file is a non-PDF file and you want to save the changes after editing it, you can save it as a new file outside the portfolio.

To scan a paper document to PDF using a configured preset, from File > Create > From Scanner > the From Scanner button, or Convert > From Scanner, or Home > Scan, select a preset to scan documents.
Foxit PDF Editor allows you to create a PDF directly from a paper document using your scanner. You can scan a document to PDF directly with custom settings.
